History of the Cellar
"How can we return to our past? How can we live in close contact with nature? These are the questions that two young adults asked themselves when they decided to change the course of their lives by reviving a masseria in Salento! Masseria Cataldo was born from this need: to enhance one's past by creating a present in empathy with nature. The Masseria, dating back to 1800, is located in the heart of Salento immersed in the countryside of Corigliano D'Otranto, a small town in the Grecìa Salentina where a Hellenic-speaking minority defends its history and tradition still speaking Griko. We have restored the structure while remaining faithful to the original construction. Everything here speaks of history, from the Lecce stone and the fascinating star vaults to the furnishings made with recovered ancient relics."
