History of the Cellar
"Since 1907, Bersano has had a vision: to preserve the best of the winemaking and convivial culture of Langhe and Monferrato and spread it throughout the world. It is an ambitious goal: for many, an impossible mission - for us, a promise to keep, day after day. It all started with Arturo Bersano and his boundless foresight. Upon his passing, the challenge passed into other hands, those of the Massimelli family: first Ugo, then, today, his daughter Federica, supported by her sisters and son. In the vineyard, in the cellar, in our museums: we focus everything on Piedmont. We do this by selecting and refining only the best bunches of native varieties from our 230 hectares of cultivated land – a priceless winemaking heritage, a slice of Langhe and Monferrato that allows us to show the world the many faces of the territory with our wines. But not only that: we also do it by protecting the peasant memory in the historic museums of Nizza Monferrato and in the 10 estate-owned farmhouses, places with a centuries-long legacy, which gather all the richness of the most important chapters in the history of Italian wine; and by promoting the conviviality that has always distinguished us, welcoming anyone who wants to discover the best of Piedmontese culture with us into our cellar. "
