THE tour begins in front of the winery with a view overlooking our 60 hectares of vineyards and olive groves, protected by landscape conservation restrictions in the beautiful setting of the Lake Regillo valley: the ancient volcanic lake.
After hearing the history of the winery and the local area, the experience continues indoors with an explanation of how our grapes and wines are made. We then descend into the magnificent ancient cellar, entirely hand-excavated into the tuff 2,000 years ago during Roman times. Here, together with you, we will choose one of two wines, “FRASCATI OR ROSSO ROMA,” for the tasting.
The tasting will take place directly in the cellar, where you will sample our wines from older vintages:
The Frascati Superiore DOCG, the famous white wine of the Castelli Romani, savory, mineral, fruity, full-bodied, with pronounced notes of white fruits such as “pear and apple,” perfect with dishes from Roman cuisine.
Our Rosso: a wine born from the rediscovery of Lecinaro, an ancient indigenous grape variety with extraordinary aromas of cocoa and red fruits, enhanced by eliminating oak aging. A fragrant, fresh, and highly structured wine that preserves the typical characteristics of the grape variety.
Our Cannellino di Frasacti DOCG dessert wine, made from Malvasia and Greco grapes with hints of honey and raisin, or our sweet rosé sparkling wine made from Merlot grapes.
The wines will be accompanied by a platter of cured meats and cheeses and our extra virgin olive oil, produced from our own olives at our mill using cold extraction. This oil has very low acidity and a high polyphenol content, the result of early harvesting and immediate pressing.

The Winery’s Story
Tenuta di Pietra Porzia’s history is closely connected first with the Roman Empire and later with the Papal States and their extensive properties in the Agro Romano. For millennia, Frascati was a sought-after retreat for the aristocracy because of its breezy climate and freedom from the malaria that made city life particularly dangerous in summer. The Frascati hills were divided among grand villas, some of which still survive. The Roman villa at Tenuta di Pietra Porzia was built on a high platform to avoid disturbing the remains of an earlier villa, which are still present.
